About the area

Kissimmee

Kissimmee is one of Central Florida's most dynamic and diverse communities. As the seat of Osceola County, it offers a compelling mix of affordability, proximity to major employers, and a rich cultural tapestry. The historic downtown along Broadway has seen significant revitalization, while newer master-planned communities to the south offer modern homes and amenities. Lakefront parks, a growing restaurant scene, and easy access to both Orlando attractions and Florida's east coast make it increasingly popular with families and investors.

History

The story of
Kissimmee

Kissimmee was founded in the 1880s as a cattle town on the shores of Lake Tohopekaliga — one of Central Florida's largest lakes. The city served as a hub for the cattle drives that moved herds to ports in Tampa and Punta Gorda. The arrival of Walt Disney World in 1971 transformed the region, and Kissimmee became a center for tourism hospitality. In recent decades, the city has grown far beyond its tourism roots. An influx of Puerto Rican, Colombian, and Brazilian residents has created one of Florida's most culturally vibrant communities, reflected in the food, festivals, and local businesses along Vine Street and downtown Broadway.
